Brothersí net goals as Ba beats Suva

Brothers Malakai Tiwa and Samuela Nabenia scored a goal in each half as Ba defeated Suva 2-0 in the feature Vodafone Premier League clash of the weekend at Govind Park today.

The match- a repeat of the Battle Of Giants (BOG) final was full of exciting moments as both teams went all out attacking at each other’s goalmouth from the opening whistle.

The Men In Black retained 9 players from their BOG winning team and fielded Simione Nabenu and Suliano Tawanakoro in the starting line-up as veteran Avinesh Swamy and Manasa Nawakula were not available today.

Suva on the other hand featured without Waisake Navunigasau and Filipe Baravilala.

Tiwa opened Ba’s account in the 26th minute as a mistake in midfield by the visitors allowed Ba to set-up an attacking move and get on the score-sheet.

Ba led 1-0 at halftime.

Tiwa had the chance to score his double his tally from the penalty spot midway in the second half but he blew away the opportunity as he shot wide.

Continuous pressure from the hosts in the last quarter of the match saw the Whites succumb under pressure and allow Nabenia to sneak in with the second goal.

Ba Manageress Sabrina Khan said their aim was to win the game and she applauded the efforts of the players.

"It was a tough match for us today. In facr after winning the BOG, we have set an aim to win all our remaining matches. We know it will not be easy as all teams will be out to beat us, but we are confident and will prepare for every game properly."

"Suva was a good opponent and this match was indeed an exciting one as it was a repeat of the BOG final and for us it was more special as this was our first home game after the BOG win. We had to win to keep our campaign on track and we will now rest, recover and begin preparations for the next game," she said.

Ba now has 15 points on the table after 9 matches while Suva remains on second spot with 16 points but has now played 11 matches.
