Tavua registers second VPL win

Tavua registered its second win of the 2018 Vodafone Premier League at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today after coming from behind to beat Rewa 2-1.

The important win shifts the Gold Miners from the bottom of the table to the seventh spot.

Tavua now has 8 points after playing10 matches and Dreketi slips to the bottom of the standing with 7 points but the Northerners have played two matches less.

Rewa with the return of Captain Amani Makoe started the match well and led 1-0 at halftime with a 35th minute goal to midfielder Taione Kerevanua.

The visitors played the second half with a lot of urgency and focus and managed to level scores through striker Atunaisa Livanalagi in the 79th minute as the Rewa defence stood ball-watching.

Hardoworking striker Vilitati Kautoga sealed victory for Tavua in the 84th minute with a powerful drive which gave goalkeeper Manasa Waqavou no chance at all.

The loss spoils Rewa's top two finish hopes as the Delta Tigers still have 13 points after 11 matches and have only three matches remaining in the competition.
