Close to 30 athletes will participate in the 2018 Suva Classic Competition which will be held next Saturday at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

The event will be used by the selection panel to pick Fiji’s representatives to next month’s South Pacific Bodybuilding Championship which will be hosted by Fiji for the first time from October 26-28.

The scheduled regional championship would see competitors from its 12 member countries with the likes of Solomon Islands, Tonga, Samoa and New Caledonia to name a few.

For local athletes, the Suva Classic will be the launching platform for international opportunities and will boost the overall development and growth of the sport.

The 2017 Suva Classic Men’s Physique title holder, Shaneel Goundar said competition is fun and each competition enhances the knowledge of local athletes with an array of great physiques and great bodybuilders.

There is also an open category for Pacific Islanders who are in the country either for work or studies.
