Navua wins Senior Division final

Navua claimed the Senior Division title of the 2018 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) at the ANZ Stadium in Suva today after beating champions Nadroga 2-0 in the final.

After a goal-less first half, Captain Vinit Chand scored the opener for Navua in the 74th minute of play.

Veteran Seveci Rokotakala headed in the second goal for Navua four minutes later after connecting well with a Monit Chand corner kick.

Captain Chand was ecstatic after the final whistle and thanked all Navua officials, players and families for their endless support during their IDC campaign.

"We have been playing in the final for the last four year and after falling short in the past two years, we did it this year and the credit goes to all my team mates and hardworking officials. We believed in each other and complemented each other during this tournament. We came here with a mission and that mission has been accomplished."

"This win is also for all Fijians here and across the globe as its Fiji Day today and there is no better feeling than winning a title for your team on your country's Independence Day," he said.

Navua will receive $7500 while Nadroga will get $2500.  The losing semifinalists- Tailevu Naitasiri and Lami will each get $500.
