South Africa wins Scotland 7s

South Africa won their third Cup final of the 2012/13 HSBC Sevens World Series, beating New Zealand 28-21 in the final of Scotland 7s this morning.

The Paul Treu coached side proved bit stronger for New Zealand, who had earlier claimed an 11th World Series title by reaching the Cup semi finals.

Seabelo Senatla scored two tries, continuing his recent fine form, while Gillies Kaka touched down twice for Gordon Tietjens' side in their victory against Wales.

Having lost to the eventual champions South Africa in the semi finals, next week's hosts England finished third after beating Wales while USA, Australia and France all lifted silverware at Scotstoun Stadium.

Earlier, New Zealand beat Argentina to progress to the semi finals and in doing so claimed their 11th World Series title by gaining enough Series points to ensure they have an unassailable lead in the standings.

England finished third in Glasgow after beating Wales 24-21, Sam Edgerley coming off the bench to snatch the victory in the final play of the match.

USA, who won the Plate in Tokyo, beat Argentina 17-7 to lift the Plate title in Scotland with Nick Edwards scoring his eighth try of the tournament in the win. Earlier they beat Fiji 22-7, while Los Pumas beat Canada by the same score, in the semi finals.

Australia beat Kenya 12-5 to claim the Bowl title in Scotland with Lewis Holland and Pama Fou giving them the victory and ensuring they maintained a 100 per cent record on day two in Glasgow.

France proved too strong for Russia as they beat the Rugby World Cup Sevens hosts 21-17 in the Shield final.
