Marist, Jasper win 2013 Coke Games

Marist Brothers High and Jasper Williams are the 2013 Coca-Cola Games boys and girls' winners respectively.

Jasper Williams defied all odds to end Adi Cakobau School's 12-year reign in the girl's division and win their first title while Marist despite facing tough competition from Queen Victoria School earlier in the day retained their title successfully.

Marist won 11 gold, seven silver and a bronze medal. Suva Grammar finished second with six gold, five silver and four bronze medals while QVS finished third with six gold, three silver and a bronze medal. Xavier finished fourth with five gold, six silver and two bronze medals.

Jasper Williams on the otherhand won nine gold, six silver and four bronze medals while Xavier College finished second in the girl's division with six gold, a silver and a bronze medal. ACS finished third with four gold, six silver and six bronze medals while St Joseph Secondary School finished fourth with four gold, a silver and a bronze medal.

Suva Grammar's Kemueli Waqa and St Joseph Secondary School's Miriama Senokonoko were named the overall best male and female athlete respectively.

Eleven new records were set over the two-day meet, all of which came on the opening day.
