Naholo scores as champs march into semis

Fijian winger Waisake Naholo scored a try and featured strongly as defending champions, the Highlanders booked their place in the Super Rugby semifinals beating the Brumbies 15-9 last night.

Naholo and Liam Squire crossed over for the Highlanders while Lima Sopoaga kicked a penalty and a conversion for the extra five points.

Christian Leali’ifano slotted 3 penalties for the Brumbies.

Flying Fijians winger Patrick Osborne also played a sound game for the Highlandersand  stopped fellow Fijian Tevita Kuridrani with a try saving tackle.

The Brumbies were left heartbroken after officials disallowed try in the dying stages.

Brumbies winger Lausii Taliauli appeared to get across the line next to the posts and a 7 pointer would have given the Brumbies a one point lead with 5 minutes remaining.

But the TMO determined because no TV angle could clearly show he had grounded the ball, and it was ruled as a held up.
