Fiji sevens captain Osea Kolinisau has called on World Rugby to consider hosting a HSBC World Sevens Series tournament in his home country. Speaking to Sydney Morning Herald before the fourth tournament of the series in Sydney this weekend, the Olympic gold medal winning skipper said he sees no reason why a tournament could not be staged in Fiji. "Hell, yeah, definitely," said Kolinisau when asked if he would support such a move. "One at home would be amazing, and to get to show that to allour Fiji people [who] are crazy about sevens. I think it'd be sold out with two or three months left for the people at home." Kolinisau picked Suva’s ANZ Stadium as a possible destination, and although thousands of Fijians would be desperate to see their heroes compete against the world's best on home soil, it would not be an easy decision for World Rugby. Kolinisau who has fond memories of playing in Sydney last year is again urging the huge Fijian population in Australia to rally behind his team. "We thought we were playing at home. We're expecting them to be out in numbers and with flags and helping get the boys forward this weekend." Fiji is grouped with Samoa, France and Wales in Pool B and opens its campaign against Samoa at 11.36am on Saturday. By Reginald Chandar |
