Blues held by hosts in stalemate

Host Rewa and Lautoka played to a goal-less draw in the last Day 1 match of the 2017 Vodafone Fiji FACT at Ratu Cakobau Park today.

The two sides had a lot of fireworks on display in both halves with national goalkeepers Benaminio Mateinaqara and Simione Tamanisau manning their  respective goal-mouths commandingly.

Rewa despite having more chances in the first half, failed to find the back of the net while Lautoka also looked good on attack at times but poor finishing by Samuela Drudru kept them scoreless.

Both teams rung in changes in the second half but tight midfield and defensive play from either ends prevented them from scoring and forced the sides to walk away with a point each.

Rewa will take on Rakiraki in its match at 2.30pm on Saturday while Lautoka will face Suva at 5pm.

The teams:

Rewa- Simione Tamanisau, Lorima Dau (C), Peniame Drova, Samuela Kautoga, Amani Makoe, Iosefo Verevou, Gabriel Matanisiga, Madhavan Goundar, Tevita Waranaivalu, Epeli Saukuru, Taione Kerevanua.

Lautoka- Benaminio Mateinaqara, Iliesa Lino, Zibraaz Sahib, Mohammed Shazil, Jone Vesikula, Dave Radrigai (C), Kavaia Rawaqa, Leisari Qalica, Samuela Drudru, Jone Vono Junior, Kolinio Sivoki.
