Injured Kerevi to miss Fiji test

Fiji-born Samu Kerevi will miss Australia’s international test match against his fellow countrymen this Saturday in Melbourne after picking up an injury.

Kerevi injured his ankle while playing for the Reds against the Blues in Samoa on Friday and is set to miss all of Australia’s tests this month.

Scrumhalf Nick Phipps who also had an ankle injury will miss out. He missed the Waratahs' clash with the Chiefs on Saturday after he was injured last week.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has included Rob Horne and Jake Gordon as replacements in his squad for tests against Fiji, Scotland and Italy.

"It's really unfortunate for Samu and Nick but a great opportunity for Jake and Rob to come into the squad," Cheika said.

"Rob has been a strong leader in our Wallabies environment and his experience will be invaluable in this relatively inexperienced squad."

"Jake was involved in our camp in Canberra earlier this year and has really stepped up for the Waratahs in Super Rugby.”

"He's another uncapped player but it will be good to expose him to the test environment,” he added.
