Flying Fijians qualify as Oceania’s best

The Vodafone Flying Fijians have qualified for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan as Oceania's number one team after beating Tonga 14-10 in Nuku’alofa today.

The John Mckee coached side joins Wales, Georgia, Australia and America’s second best team in Pool D.

It will be the fourth consecutive time for the Fijians to be in the same pool as Wales in the World Cup and their second consecutive time to be grouped with former world champions Australia.

With Oceania’s top spot now sealed, the Flying Fijians will shift their focus to the defence of the Pacific Nations Cup title and they will just need to beat or hold Samoa next Saturday in Apia.
