Rewa wins Battle Of Giants

Left midfielder Iosefo Verevou scored two second half goals as Rewa defeated Nadi 2-1 in the grand final to clinch the 2017 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants title at Churchill Park in Lautoka today.

The final proved to be a thrilling encounter with both teams giving the fans a display of fast and entertaining football.

The teams rested 0-0 at halftime and Verevou slammed the opener in the 56th minute after getting a through pass on the left hand edge of the box.

The Jetsetters leveled scores in the 68th minute after Ame Votoniu’s screamer from outside which was tapped by goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau was headed in by a diving Rusiate Matarerega.

Verevou netted the winner in the 77th minute after finishing off a well set move by veteran Lorima Dau and Epeli Saukuru.

 He was also named the Player of  Day 6.

Rewa skipper Simione Tamanisau was given the Golden Glove award while Nadi sweeper Ilimotama Jese received the Golden Ball award and Ba's Kishan Sami was named the New Find of the Tournament.

Nadi striker Rusiate Matarerega who netted four goals won the Golden Boot award and Nadi was awarded the Fairest Team of the 2017 Battle Of Giants..

Rewa returns home $15,000 richer while Nadi will receive $4000 for reaching the final.
