Suva bows out, Nadi through to semis

Suva has bowed out of the 2017 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants after playing to a 1-1 draw against Rakiraki in its final Group A match at Subrail Park today.

The Whites entered this match with 1 point and needed a big margin win to keep their semifinal hopes alive.

Veteran Pita Rabo gave them an early lead but stubborn defence by Rakiraki did not allow Suva attackers to score any more goals.

Suva lost its Captain Jale Dreloa to a red card in the 56th minute and Rakiraki was also reduced to ten players after Ratu Sairusi Nalewadonu was sent off following his second booking in the 64th minute.

Midfielder Kasim Khan leveled scores for Rakiraki in the 77th minute with a tap in after an attempt Savirio Naqoli was palmed into his path by goalkeeper Tevita Koroi.

The result sees Nadi progress to the semifinals from Group A with host Labasa and the clash between the two sides later this afternoon will determine the pool winner.

Labasa already has 6 points and a draw will be enough for them to top the group while Nadi has 4 points and will need a win to finish on top.
