Narube twins ready for showdown

Twin brothers Peni and Emosi Narube are eager and ready to make Queen Victoria School proud on Saturday by winning the Coke Zero U18 Deans title at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The brothers who hail from Navutu village in Nadroga have been representing the school from the U14 grade and want their final appearance against Ratu Kadavulevu School to be a memorable one.

Peni who is also the Captain of the side said while the final will be tough, his teammates are ready to do the job on the field and make all “Victorians” proud.

“This is our final year of school as we are in Year 13 and we want to finish high school on a high note. We both are looking forward to the final and we will continue playing rugby as we start tertiary studies from next year.”

Emosi, who is the deputy head boy of the school also echoed similar sentiments and has called on all former students of the school to come in numbers and support the team.

“We have a lot of respect for RKS as they won the Eastern Zone. We are the defending champions and will try our best to win and retain our title,” he said.

Their coach, Filipe Senibua said the brothers have shown a lot of skills and great discipline as they have come through the age group ranks at the school.

“It is a pleasure to coach such talented rugby players like them.  Their discipline the skills are very good and most of all they give their hundred percent while training,” said Senibua.

The U18 final is scheduled to commence at 3.30pm and the winner will walk away $5000 richer as the prize money has been increased by $3000 this year.

The Man of the Match of the final will also receive an air ticket to fly to either Australia or New Zealand.
