Former Fiji U23 stopper joins Labasa

Former Fiji U23 goalkeeper Shaneel Naidu is set to feature for Labasa in this window.

Naidu last featured for Ba in the Fiji FACT after taking a transfer from Dreketi in the first window of the year.

He joined Labasa squad in training last week and is currently awaiting his release from Ba.

Labasa FA Secretary Varun Anand told FijiLive that Naidu’s inclusion will add more depth to the side in the IDC for the defending champions.

“Shaneel had shown interest in representing Labasa and after successful negotiations he has joined us in training. We have applied for his release and he is likely to be cleared by the end of the week.”

“He is a very disciplined and dedicated player and his experience with the Fiji team should help Labasa. He has been training hard and if all goes well then he and Akuila Mateisuva will be our goalkeepers in the IDC,” said Anand.

Meanwhile Amani Makoe is also likely to be cleared by today while Jale Dreloa’s case has been forwarded to the Fiji FA Disputes Tribunal which will sit and deliberate on Sunday.

Dreketi’s Thomas Steiner, Sitiveni Rakai , Ashneel Raju and Mohammed Zaid  have also joined the Babasiga Lions in this window.

Labasa will open its campaign against Ba at 5.30pm on Tuesday.
