Auckland All Stars upset champs Nadi

Defending champion Nadi suffered a 2-0 defeat against NZFFI Auckland All Stars in its third match of the 2017 Pacific Cup in Auckland today.

The Jetsetters entered the match with a win and a draw and looked favorites while Auckland All Stars took the field with a 2-0 victory over Manukau All Stars in their first match.

Nadi started well and missed few good scoring chances before Tom Boss opened the account for Auckland midway in the first half.

Another goal in the second half to Fauzul Ahmed sealed the win for the Kiwis who are coached by former Auckland City striker Iwa Shaker.

The loss now puts pressure on Nadi and the Anand Sami coached side will now need a positive result in its final Group B match against Manukau All Stars at 5.15pm tomorrow while the win pushes Auckland All Stars on six points and enhances the semifinal hopes.

Auckland will feature twice tomorrow. They will first face Lautoka at 4pm before playing AFFA Savusavu All Stars in the final pool match of the tournament at 9pm.
