Flying Fijians thrash Canada

Fiji Airways Flying Fijians thumped Canada 57-17 in their last match of the Northern Tour in France today to end their campaign with a win.

After suffering a 23-20 loss to Ireland and a 19-10 defeat at the hands of Italy, the John McKee coached side needed a win to round up the tour on a positive note.

Fiji led 33-0 at halftime with prop Kalivati Tawake, hooker Tuapati Talemaitoga, halfback Frank Lomani and outside centre Vereniki Goneva getting on the score-sheet while a penalty try was also awarded.

Peceli Yato, Leone Nakarawa, Levani Botia and Semi Kunatani scored four more tries in the second half to wrap up the big win.

Meanwhile Fijians players stood out for their adopted nations in other international friendly matches today.

Waisake Naholo got a double in New Zealand’s 33-18 win over Wales, Tevita Kuridrani also got a brace of tries in their 53-24 loss to Scotland while Semesa Rokoduguni managed to score a try in England’s 46-14 win over Samoa.

In other matches, South Africa outclassed Italy 35-6, Georgia edged USA 21-20, Tonga overcame Romania 25-20 and Ireland defeated Argentina 28-19.
