Sharma is new Fiji Football Manager

27-year-old Shamal Sharma has been appointed as the manager of Vodafone Fiji national football team.

The former Nasinu youth rep who is a sponsorship specialist for football at Vodafone Fiji says the appointment means a lot to him as he has always been an avid football supporter.

“I’m very happy with my appointment as the national team manager. Given my fulltime job at Vodafone where I look after the sponsorship of football in Fiji, I will work very closely with Fiji Football Association and the national team.”

“I have been with the national team during the recent international commitments and was part of the team to Indonesia tour as well.”

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel said Sharma has been performing his duties very well since his appointment and they are happy to see their partnership with Vodafone Fiji grow further.

Association president Rajesh Patel commended Sharma for his job well done since his appointment.

“Shamal is doing a wonderful job and we’re thankful to Vodafone as he is the football specialist, for dividing time between Fiji FA and taking the duty as the manager for the national team,” Patel said.

“Once again a good partnership with Vodafone and it helps football to grow together.

“There’s lot of responsibilities and I think as he grows into it, he will learn more how to tackle the job.”

Meanwhile national coach Christophe Gamel has labeled Sharma as one of the best administrators.

“He is the best manager I have ever got throughout my stay in Fiji. He is a very nice person, has the capacity to communicate well with people,” he said.
