Mata extends Edinburgh deal to 2020

Flying Fijians flanker and 7s Olympic gold medalist Viliame Mata has extended his stay with Pro14 club Edinburgh till 2020.

The 26-year-old who joined the English club in September last year has performed exceptionally well and was also included in the Flying Fijians squad where he made his international test debut against Australia in June and to date has four caps to his name.

"I'm really pleased to re-sign with Edinburgh. My family and I have settled in the city and I'm really enjoying my rugby,” he told the club’s official website.

"Coach Richard Cockerill has developed a great environment, both on and off the field, and it's an exciting time to be part of the club."

Mata has scored seven tries in 24 appearances for Edinburgh and scooped November’s Try of the Month for his effort against the Southern Kings.
