Ali assists as Suva continues coach hunt

Former Fiji Football Association Development Officer and Lami Coach Riyaz Ali is assisting Suva for this Sunday’s Vodafone Premier League opener against Rewa.

Ali has been conducting the training sessions in the absence of a permanent coach.

Suva FA President Ritesh Pratap told FijiLive that they are grateful to Ali for his services and their search for a fulltime coach is continuing.

“Some good coaches have shown interest and we will be making a decision soon.”

“One of the challenges we face is that most of the B and C Licence coaches are residing in the Western Division. It becomes hard for us to hire them due to their family and work commitments.  There is hardly any certified coach in the Southern Division and we have to look elsewhere,” he said.

USA based former coach Gurjit Singh is believed to be in talks with Suva FA over a possible return while Cook Islands coach Tuka Tisam who assisted the Whites in the 2017 BOG is also understood to be interested.

Suva and Rewa will clash at 3pm on Sunday at Ratu Cakobau Park.
