Fiji names strong squad for Brisbane 10s

Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) has named a powerful extended squad for next month’s Brisbane Global Tens tournament at Suncorp Stadium.

Fiji will make its debut at the tournament and FRU Chief Executive John O’Connor says this opportunity is another pathway for local club players to prove their worth and showcase their talents on a global stage.

A number of experienced players like Joeli Veitiyaki, Kalivati Tawake, Ratunaisa Navuma, Mosese Voka, Peni Raidre, Timoci Sinate, Serupepeli Vularika and Cyril Reece have been included in the 33-member squad.

The players will undergo their first fitness and training session today in Suva and Sigatoka and the final team is expected to be named by the end of next week.

Brisbane Global Tens tournament will be played on February 09 and 10 and Fiji is pooled with the Brumbies, Crusaders and the Hurricanes.

The Selected Players are:

Prop - Joeli Veitiyaki, Mosese Ducivaki, Kalivate Tawake, Eroni Mawi, Timoci Sauvoli. Osea Naganilau

Hooker – Vesi Rarawa, Veremalua Vugakoto, Ratunaisa Navuma.

Locks/Flanker – Fabino Rogovakalili, Lepani Kurumudu, Viliame Rarasea, Albert Tuisue, Mosese Voka, Peni Raidre, Filimoni Seru, Jale Railala, Elia Canakaivata

Half Back/Fly Half - Serupepeli Vularika, Frank Lomani, Seru Cavuilati

1st Five – Teti Tela, Jone Manu, Alivereti Veitokani.

Centre – Ifereimi Tovilevu, Lepani Rayala, Peniasi Kunabuli, Enele Malele, Cyril Reece.

Wing/Full Back - Apete Davete, Timoci Sinate, Inia Tawalo, Aporosa Tabulawaki
