Fiji posts impressive win in Sydney 7s opener

The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s side kicked off its campaign in Sydney last night with an impressive 31-5 victory over Samoa.

Coach Gareth Baber started Amenoni Nasilasila at play-maker and the Nadroga native did not disappoint as he scored a try and set up two others.

Nasilasila scored the opening try in 50 seconds and converted to give Fiji a 7-0 lead.

Gordon Langkilde scored for Samoa to narrow the gaps to 7-5 before Mesulame Kunavula shrugged off a couple of tackles to touch down the second try and a successful conversion from Nasilasila saw Fiji lead 14-5 at halftime.

The Fijians completely dominated the second half and scored three unanswered tries through Josua Vakurinabili, Eroni Sau and debutant Alosio Naduva to wrap up the win.
