Gamel holds talks with Stoke City youngster

National coach Christophe Gamel who is currently in Europe has met with England based youngster Scott Wara and wants the Stoke City youth defender to represent his country of birth.

Wara, 18, was born in Lautoka and migrated to Staffordshire, England at the age of 7 and carries a Fijian passport.

He recently represented Stoke City U21s and has been impressive at centre-back’s position.

Gamel is in the process of reaching an agreement with the club for Wara to be released for national duties.

He says he will leave the decision on Wara to opt for which country he wants to represent as he is eligible to play for England as well.

“He is very much interested to play for Fiji but he has a lot to think,”Gamel told Fiji FA Media.

According to Gamel, talks are slowly taking shape and he is hopeful for a positive outcome.

The Frenchman also visited Qatar and had talks with the Aspire and Aspetar Academies to play matches against the youth national teams in future.
