Rugged defender Tuilau to miss CVC series

Experienced national and Lautoka defender Laitia Tuilau will miss the two legged Champion vs Champion series against Labasa which commences this Saturday at Subrail Park.

Tuilau who captained the Blues in their IDC triumph at home in October was sent off in the final against Ba and will have to serve a two match suspension- ruling him out of the CVC series.

Speaking to FijiLive, Lautoka boss Abdul Kadar said while Tuilau’s absence will be felt, they have other experienced and capable players who can replace him in the starting team.

“He has been training but will not feature due to suspension. Other national reps like Kolinio Sivoki, Kavaia Rawaqa, Zibraaz Sahib and Dave Radrigai will control things on the field in the two matches.”

“As defending champions, we are very serious about winning both legs of the CVC and our preparations have been good. We got into full gear from Monday and all players are training well and there are no injuries so far.”

“We will depart for Labasa by boat tonight and should get settled and ready for the big match by tomorrow afternoon.”

“I am urging fans of both teams to come out in numbers and support their districts as this will be the first match of the year and it will be a very tough match.”

Lanky marksman Osea Vakatalesau, veteran Peni Finau and stylish Mohammed Shazil Ali who missed the IDC due to injuries have all recovered and will be part of Lautoka’s campaign while veteran marksman Valerio Nawatu will join Tuilau on the stands as he has been suspended due to disciplinary reasons.

The first leg will commence at 1pm.
