Sponsorship boost for CVC

The 2018 edition of the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion (CVC) was officially launched at the Fiji Football Association’s headquarters in Suva today with the two-legged series sponsor announcing an increased sponsorship.

Pillay Garments Director Narendra Pillay while renewing and extending his company’s sponsorship deal by another five years also announced an increase in the yearly sponsorship from $22,000 to $25,000.

Fiji FA Chief Executive Mohammed Yusuf said the sponsorship boost should help the participating teams- Lautoka and Labasa as both teams will receive an increased preparation grant of $4000.

He said CVC is usually the most anticipated event on the Fiji FA calendar as it officially kicks off the local football competition every year.

“Although our football calendar begins with the IDC every year, CVC remains popular since it is usually played at the beginning of every year.”

Yusuf also revealed that they will have the next CVC series by October this year.

“We could not have the CVC in October or November last year due to the commitments of the national team but this year we will surely have the series completed in October. Lautoka has already booked its spot as the winner of the 2017 Courts IDC and they will play the winners of the 2018 Vodafone Premier League,” he added.

Meanwhile the first leg of the Champion vs Champion series will be played at Labasa’s Subrail Park at 1pm on Saturday.
