Suva trio cop 3-year suspension

Three key Suva players have been suspended from all levels of football for three years after they were found guilty of bringing disrepute to the sport during the Inter District Championship (IDC) in Lautoka last year.

National goalkeeper Tevita Koroi, defender Leone Damudamu and veteran midfielder Pita Rabo were found guilty by the Suva FA Disciplinary Committee and have been suspended accordingly.

Confirming the suspensions to FijiLive, Suva FA President Ritesh Pratap said the three players let the team down with their acts during the IDC and they have decided to take disciplinary action after finding them guilty.

“It was really unfortunate that the team had to suffer because of these players in the IDC and these players have been suspended from all levels of football for the next three years.  If they choose to return after suspension then they will have to prove their worth and if they choose to join other teams then they will have to pay a fine of $5000 to Suva FA,” said Pratap.

Suva bowed out of the semifinals of the 2017 Courts IDC after getting hammered 5-0 by Ba.

Meanwhile the Whites will open their 2018 Vodafone Premier League campaign against neighbours and arch rivals Rewa at 3pm on Sunday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
