Baber retains Hamilton 7s winning team

Fiji Airways Men’s 7s Coach Gareth Baber has retained the same squad that won the Hamilton 7s in New Zealand earlier this month.

The only change to the 13-member squad for Las Vegas and Vancouver 7s is nippy playmaker Waisea Nacuqu who forces his way back in the team after fully recovering from an injury.

He comes in for Apete Daveta who is still out injured.

“Most of the players played well in the Hamilton 7s and we are looking to them for consistent performance.”

“The remaining squad members will continue to train under Saiasi Fuli as the team continues to build up for the Commonwealth Games and the Hong Kong 7s.”

Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive, John O’Connor has reminded the players that they need to perform consistently in every leg as the build-up to the Commonwealth Games begins.

“It is up to you to go out there and perform like champions and win both tournaments.  We wish you all the best and God Speed in Las Vegas and Vancouver.”

The Las Vegas 7s will be played from the 2nd to the 4th of March at Sam Boyd Stadium in Nevada and Fiji is pooled with Kenya, France and Russia in Pool A.

The team is expected to depart our shores for Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Fiji squad- Josua Vakurunabili, Paula Dranisinukula, Mesulame Kunavula, Jasa Veremalua, Vasikali Mudu, Jerry Tuwai (C), Vatemo Ravouvou, Amenoni Nasilasila, Waisea Nacuqu, Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Alasio Naduva, Eroni Sau, Kalione Nasoko.
