Fiji tops pool faces Samoa in quarters

Fiji has topped Pool A of the Hamilton 7s after beating Australia 26-15 in its last match today.

The best teams of the pool had so much on display for the fans and kept them on the edge of their seats throughout the encounter.

Fiji was first to get on the scoreboard through Eroni Sau and a successful conversion from Amenoni Nasilasila gave them a 7-0 lead.

A double from Tim Ashtee gave the Aussies a 10-7 lead but a try just before halftime to Josua Vakurunabili saw the Fijians head to the break with a 12-7 lead.

Lachie Anderson put Australia ahead with a beautiful finish from a Maurice Longbottom pass but Fiji did not give up and scored two more tries through Jasa Veremalua and Sau to remain unbeaten on Day 1.

Fiji will now face Pool D runners up Samoa in the first cup quarterfinal at 11.36am tomorrow while Australia will face Pool D winners Kenya at 12.20pm.
