Tuwawa ends maiden campaign winless

The Fiji Tuwawa (Giants) side ended its maiden campaign in the Global Brisbane Tens Tournament winless after losing its final pool match 17-0 to the Crusaders at Suncorp Stadium today.

The Senirusi Seruvakula coached side despite the loss played some good rugby defensively and made their more superior opponents work hard for the win.

Winger Jone Macilai scored the first try of the match and set up the second for Richard Judd as the Crusaders led 12-0 at halftime.

Tom Christie sealed the win for the Kiwis mid-way in the second half with a beautiful try as he slipped out of a couple of Fijian tackles and dotted the ball on the line.

In earlier matches, the Fijians were defeated 17-12 and 12-5 by the Brumbies and the Hurricanes respectively.

The Fiji Tuwawa side will remain in Brisbane and will now prepare for their friendly match against the Queensland Reds on February 15 at Ballymore Stadium.
