Viriviri, Katonibau in HK 7s team

Former World 7s Player of the Year Samisoni Viriviri and veteran forward Isake Katonibau have been named in Fiji’s final 12 for Hong Kong 7s while Olympian Semi Kunatani has been included as the 13th member and will get game time if there is any injury.

Lanky Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Jasa Veremalua have been rested for the Commonwealth Games next week in Gold Coast, Australia while Tabadamu forward Apenisa Cakaubalavu has also missed the cut for this weekend.

Ten players from the Hong Kong 7s squad will be part of the Commonwealth Games.

The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s side is in Pool A with New Zealand, Samoa and Russia and opens its campaign against Samoa at 12.43am tomorrow.

The Jerry Tuwai skippered side then faces Russia at 5.54pm and New Zealand at 9.54pm.

The cup quarters commence at 2.58pm on Sunday and the semis are scheduled to start at 7.41pm while the final will kick-off at 11pm.
