Ba women retain Senior League title

Ba successfully defended the Vodafone Women’s Senior League title at the Fiji FA Academy in Suva on Saturday after beating Labasa 1-0.

The Ladies in Men entered the match as favorites after thumping Tailevu Naitasiri 10-0 a day earlier.

Striker Cema Nasau netted the winner midway in the first half.

Nasau was the top scorer of the final playoff as she also netted six goals against Tailevu Naitasiri.

Ba Captain and national striker Louisa Tamanitoakula said they were confident about their chances and came into the final playoff well prepared.

“We prepared well and told each other that we have to win and take the trophy back to Ba. This win means a lot to us as we all know Ba was badly affected by recent flooding and I hope this win by the team will bring some smiles on the faces of our people back home.”

“This win is for the people of Ba.”

Meanwhile Labasa finished in second place after beating Tailevu Naitasiri 3-1 yesterday.

Ba received $1500, Labasa pocketed $750 while Tailevu Naitasiri was given $500 for reaching the final playoff.
