Fiji thumps Samoa in Paris 7s opener

The Fiji Airways Men's 7s side thumped Samoa 35-12 in its opening match of the Paris 7s today.

Fiji grabbed an early 14-0 lead with tries to Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Kalione Nasoko but two fine tries by Samoa's Malu Falaniko and Tofato Solia narrowed the scores to just 14-12 at halftime.

The Fijians lifted their game in the second half and scored three unanswered tries through replacements Semi Kunatani and Jasa Veremalua (2).

Meanwhile in an earlier Pool A match, New Zealand defeated Kenya 24-5.

Fiji faces Kenya in its next match at 11.46pm abd will meet New Zealand in its final pool match at 5.14am tomorrow.
