Logaivou puts Labasa in FACT final

Left-back Ilisoni Logaivou scored a goal in each half as Labasa defeated Nadi 2-0 in the first semifinal of the 2018 Vodafone Fiji FACT at Churchill Park in Lautoka today.

The Babasiga Lions played with a lot of confidence and looked better in all aspects of the game while Nadi was weak in attack as they badly lacked the services of Rusiate Matarerega and Napolioni Qasevakatini upfront.

Logaivou opened Labasa’s account in the 11th minute with a curler from the left hand edge of the box which hit the top corner of the net giving goalie and Captain Vereti Dickson no chance at all.

Josefata Dugucagi missed two good chances at goal for Nadi from just outside the box while Ratu Apenisa Anare also missed a golden chance for the Northerners just before halftime.

A mistake in defence by Nadi in the 50th minute allowed Logaivou to head in his second goal.

Labasa introduced Ilisoni Loloivalu and Pita Levaci to tighten their midfield and attack while a number of changes by the Nadi coaching panel failed to make any impact as the Taniela Waqa skippered side held onto its lead till the final whistle.

The Galaxy Plaza Sponsored Labasa side will play the winner of the Lautoka vs Rewa match in the grand finale next weekend.

The venue and time of the final will be announced by Fiji FA after the conclusions of the semifinals.
