Former NRL star Semi Radradra will make his debut for the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians against Georgia in the Pacific Nations Cup in Suva on Saturday.
Radradra has been named at Inside Centre and will pair up with Jale Vatubua.
Speaking after the team announcement, Radradra said he is honored to be given the chance to represent his country of birth.
“It feels so good to be back home and I am really honored to represent my country. I thank the coach and the Flying Fijians management for having faith in me and giving me the opportunity to represent my country,” he said.
Radradra’s recent form in London during Fiji Airways Men’s Sevens series victory showed just what kind of impact the sizzling winger can have with the ball in hand.
Coach John McKee said he is excited to see Radradra in action on Saturday.
“It’s exciting for Semi Radradra to finally make his debut for the Flying Fijians”
“Semi’s been in outstanding form for his club (Toulon) across the Northern season and against England for the Barbarians”
“We’ll be looking fo him to inject the skill and speed he brings into the game on Saturday”.
France based Nemani Nadolo has also been named in the starting lineup and will feature on the wings.
“The inclusion of Nemani Nadolo and Jim Nagusa (off the bench) adds experience and fire power to the squad,” said McKee.
“Our players are in no doubt of the task ahead of them this weekend”
“Georgia will be very physical, we have to match that physicality and impose our game onto them”
“Discipline will be crucial for this game, conceding unnecessary penalties against Georgia will allow them to put us under pressure”
“One yellow card will be one yellow card to many in my view”
“We will be looking for our forwards to matching the Georgian challenge and leading the way to create opportunities for the backs”
“We have quite contrasting styles of play, so the successful team will be the team who can impose their style across the 80 minutes of the match.”
“We’ve had a noticeable lift of intensity at training this week and with more time together, the boys have reached another level of quality in our role clarity and combinations,” he added.
