Tavua holds champs Lautoka in VPL

Defending champions and current leaders Lautoka were held to a goalless draw by bottom placed Tavua in their Vodafone Premier League clash at Garvey Park today.

Following their 1-0 win over Nadi on Friday night, the Kamal Swamy coached side entered the match with the favorites tag but the hosts were also determined to do better to keep their survival hopes alive.

Tavua’s young strike force threatened the Lautoka defence a couple of times in both halves while the Blues attack and midfield despite being strong and dominant, failed to go past a stubborn and aggressive defence which was well marshaled by goalkeeper Jovilisi Borisi.

Lautoka leads the VPL standings with 18 points after playing 8 matches while Tavua sits at the bottom with only 4 points from 8 games.
