Baber names team, Sau misses out

World Rugby 7s Rookie of the Year, Eroni Sau has failed to make the final 12-member Fiji team for next weekend’s 7s World Cup in San Francisco.

Sau, lanky Josua Vakurunabili, Waisea Nacuqu and Apenisa Cakaubalavu are the four players that could not make the final cut.

Coach Gareth Baber while naming the final squad today said that with so much class across all areas of the field, the decision on who take was not an easy one.

He praised all the players for their efforts and application to the preparation camp where all squad members put forward a strong case for selection through their energy, intensity and determination to contribute to the team.

Baber named his team after a 10-day intense camp in Park City, Utah.

Overseas based Leone Nakarawa, Semi Kunatani, Josua Tuisova and Semi Radradra have been selected alongside the likes of Captain Jerry Tuwai, Amenoni Nasilasila and Vatemo Ravouvou.

The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s will travel to San Francisco from Utah on Monday before commencing their Rugby World Cup 7s campaign on Friday against the winner of a qualifying match between Japan and Uruguay.
