Minnows Tavua hold Ba in VPL

Bottom placed Tavua held Ba to a 3-3 draw in their Vodafone Premier League clash at Govind Park today.

The Gold Miners played with a lot of determination and did not lack confidence against their much experienced and superior opponents.

The Men In Black started the match well and goals from Malakai Tiwa and Laisenia Raura gave them a 2-0 lead midway in the first half.

Tavua managed to pull one back before the break through national rep Vilive Naulalevu.

Naulalevu struck again early in the second half and leveled scores for the visitors.

Defender Manasa Nawakula slotted in Ba’s third goal from the penalty spot after striker Amena Bola was fouled by goalkeeper Jovilisi Borisi.

Tavua again managed to level the scores late into the match through striker Vilitati Kautoga who took full advantage of a defensive blunder to drive home the advantage.

The result does not affect the VPL standing.  Ba however now has 12 points and remains on third spot while Tavua sits at the bottom with 5 points.
