Osifelo keen to shine in Suva jumper

Solomon Islander Fred Osifelo is keen to prove his worth in the Suva jumper and help the Whites win the 2018 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants.

The former CY Strikers FC forward who is the lone foreigner in the Suva squad for the tournament told FijiLive he is excited and is looking forward to their group matches in Lautoka.

“I feel really good training with the boys as we have bonded well especially in camp. I feel at home training with these boys.  I just open up to everybody and made friends when I joined them and that’s how I have adapted to this team.”

The 22-year-old who is a student at the University of the South Pacific and has been playing for Bureta FC in the domestic competition says he badly wants to play for the Capital City side after failing to get any game time in the Inter District Championship (IDC) last year.

“I am giving all my best in the preparation and if I am given a chance to play, then I will surely give all my 110% for the team.”

“Suva is preparing well and I am certain the team will do well as everyone is working hard and we are looking forward to the tournament,” he added.

Coach Gurjit Singh said he was impressed with Osifelo’s form and could use him as an impact player off the bench in the BOG.

“He is a good striker and has good skills. He is fit and skillful and surely I will be using him in the tournament. He is part of my plans and should get some game time,” said Singh.

Suva is grouped with defending champion Rewa, Nadi and Dreketi in Group A and will face the Delta Tigers in its opening match at 1.30pm on Friday.
