Jackson appointed Samoa Coach

The Samoa Rugby Union has appointed Steve Jackson as its new Head Coach.

Jackson who was an Assistant Coach for the Auckland Blues and Counties Manukau, and coached at club level in North Harbour and Nelson will guide the Samoans in the new season, all the way through to the Rugby World Cup in Tokyo next year.

He is a former New Zealand schools and New Zealand Maori representative and has previously played for Tasman, Auckland, North Harbour and Southland, where he was captain.

More than 40 people applied for the position from all over the world including South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and former Coach Fuimaono Titimaea Tafua was the only local applicant.
