Champs Fiji make flying start

Defending champion Fiji thrashed the Solomon Islands 47-0 in their opening match of the Oceania 7s this afternoon in Suva.

The hosts led 21-0 at halftime with Captain Kalione Nasoko, Waisea Nacuqu and Alosio Naduva scoring the tries while Vatemo Ravouvou successfully converted the tries.

Debutants Napolioni Ratu, Beniamino Vota, Naduva and Apenisa Cakaubalavu scored four more tries in the second half for Fiji with Ratu (1) and Vilimoni Botitu (2) kicking the conversions.

The Fiji Airways Men's 7s side will now face Papua New Guinea in its second and last pool match at 8.03pm.
