16 teams for Men’s Netball Championship

16 teams from around the country will compete in the Men’s Netball Championship next week.

In its second year, the competition has doubled in interest compared to eight teams competing last year.

Netball Fiji Development Manager Sandeep Prasad said they are looking to further the sport in the men’s game.

“This is to give men’s netballers the opportunity to showcase their talents, we have changed the teams from being district teams to club teams and doubled the participation number,” Prasad said.

Prasad added that Netball Fiji had also appointed an official management team to run and manage the Fiji Men’s team currently helping prepare the Fiji Pearls team to the Netball World Cup.

“We are continuously seeking opportunities for the Fiji National Men’s Team to play in international test matches and will be submitting a bid for the Fiji Men’s Fast Five team to be included in this year’s Fast Five tournament to be held in New Zealand.”

Suva are the current defending champions.

The two-day Championship begins next week on May 19 at the Vodafone Arena.
