$300k for Ratu Sukuna Day celebration

Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs has allocated $300,000 to mark and celebrate Ratu Sukuna Day.

Speaking at the launch yesterday, Assistant Minister for i-Taukei Affairs, Ratu Isikeli Tuiwailevu said the allocation this year comes from the Ministry and not the Government.

Tuiwailevu said the money has been provided by the Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs, compared to the $500,000 granted by the Government last year.

He said the celebration aims to increase people’s knowledge of Ratu Sukuna’s life and achievements, highlighting his contribution to Fiji and political commentator Professor Steven Ratuva will give a lecture on the day – marked by a three-day celebration, cultural exhibits, and symposium.

Th event will be celebrated at Albert Park in Suva on 31 May.
