The Fiji Hockey Federation today received a sponsorship boost of $30,000 for this month’s World Cup in Oman.
The Motibhai Group and its deodorant brand Rexona presented the much needed financial assistance to both the men’s and women’s teams for their participation on the global stage.
FHF secretary Catherine Fabiano expressed their sincere gratitude to Motibhai Group for the continued support extended towards communities and sporting activities across the country.
“Your activities and generous deeds massively contribute towards the economic well-being of our nation and our people and we are truly thankful for that.”
She said with Rexona on their side, both the men’s and women’s national team members and officials will go out with full confidence to deliver their best performance and fly the Fijian flag high on the other side of the world.
Motibhai Group marketing manager Abraham Gomes said being an iconic brand in the sporting world, Rexona is endorsed by numerous international sporting stars and is synonymous with excellence in performance.
“As a silver sponsor of this upcoming international event, the entire management and staff of Motibhai Group wishes Team Fiji all the best in their outing.”
He said this is not the first time Rexona has partnered with a sporting event or group to promote personal hygiene via sports as they recently joined hands with Team Fiji to boost their performance at the 2023 South Pacific Games that was hosted by Solomon Islands.
Gomes said the brand also supported Fiji Men’s and Mixed Netball Association (FMMNA) national championship held in Suva last year.
“Working closely with the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC), Motibhai Group also partnered with Team Fiji in 2022 Pacific Mini Games in Northern Mariana Islands, 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa and earlier on in 2018 at the Commonwealth Games in Australia by donating Rexona personal care products like deodorants and roll-ons to athletes and officials who represented the country.”
“Prior to that, the company also joined hands with Team Fiji whereby the National 7s team brought back gold from the Rio Olympics in 2016.”
The Fiji men’s and women’s teams will participate in the inaugural International Hockey Federation (FIH) sanctioned Hockey5s World Cup in Muscat, Oman from 24-31 January.
