Agreement reached, Fiji Water staff return to work

The National Union of Workers and Fiji Water has reached an agreement, bringing the 10-day industrial action to an end.

Speaking to FijiLive, NUW General Secretary Felix Anthony said both parties had signed an agreement to increase wages by five percent which would be backdated to 1st January 2023, and the other would be backdated to 1st January 2024.

Anthony said a third increase of another five percent would be implemented on 1st January 2025.

Anthony said a 6.7 percent wage increase was due to decreased working hours from 45 to 42 hours per week.

“So in all, there is a total of 21.7% increase in wage rates, 30 additional days off in a new roster pattern per year, shift allowance of $3.50 per shift, and other conditions,” Anthony said.

Meanwhile, both parties have expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
