Budget for hard courts and tracks upgrade

Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru says Fiji can meet the requirement of hosting more international standard sporting events in Fiji.

This is after the Fiji Sports Council has been allocated $1.9 million for the upgrade of tracks at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Another $720,000 have been provided to construct Hard Courts around the country to meet the demand for indoor sports from sporting federations such as Volleyball, Tennis and Futsal soccer.

Saukuru said the biggest challenge has been in maintaining the facilities to facilitate sporting events in the country.
