Janif shares industry insights with King Charles

Employing young people entails several benefits for businesses, which is why a majority of the cohort employed in Fiji’s outsourcing industry are below the age of 35.

This was the sentiment of Outsource Fiji executive director Sagufta Janif as she spoke to the Prince of Wales at the Commonwealth Day reception, earlier this week.

As a member of the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) representing Fiji and the Pacific, Janif commemorated the Commonwealth Youth Day with over 50 youth representatives from the Commonwealth Youth Network at a reception held at Buckingham Palace on Monday 13 March 2023.

This was the first Commonwealth Day reception hosted by King Charles and the Queen Consort, joined by Prince William and other members of themonarch family.

“It was indeed a privilege to speak to the Prince of Wales and share the potential of Fiji’s outsourcing industry; youth engagement; challenges the industry faces in terms of employment creation; and digital trade opportunities”.

“Evidently, as a country with young and dynamic industry workers, Fiji is quick to assess and employ the benefits of hiring young blood. We are well-positioned in having a high-quality workforce and a large talent pool as most of the young people employed in the industry hold

a degree-level education”, she said.

Ahead of the reception, The King signed the Commonwealth Charter; a single document outlining the sixteen core values of the association, which the leaders of the Commonwealth have committed to upholding.

Janif was also part of a two-week youth leadership training for the Commonwealth Youth Leadership training summit which concluded on Friday.
