Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Lynda Tabuya says Fiji needs to celebrate its senior citizens who have contributed so much to building our nation.
Tabuya made the comments during the New Year Celebration for Senior Chinese citizens in Suva yesterday, and said it was only right that in their golden age, they are provided with the love and care that they truly deserve.
Tabuya said as a country, we need to celebrate and acknowledge our senior citizens as they have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with younger generations.
The Minister also acknowledged the Chinese Association of Fiji and the Chinese community for their support of the aged care institutions over the years.
“It is the Government’s commitment to review the existing social programs for senior citizens with the aim to ensure their decent and dignified living and to achieve the Government’s vision of inclusive, resilient and better Fiji.”
