Community engagement helps in drug arrests

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations (ACP) Livai Driu says community engagement continues to yield results with drug arrests and seizures made on a daily basis.

ACP Driu said information received from members of the public is helping them to make arrests and produce those charged in a court of law.

He said in the  arrests made throughout last week, a 44-year-old man was arrested in Cobue, Bua after he was allegedly found with white substance believed to be methamphetamine and dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

In Labasa town, a 66-year-old man was allegedly found with a clear bag containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

ACP Driu said in Nausori, a 29-year-old man was arrested following the seizure of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine.

In Lautoka, an arrest made at the Lautoka Bus stand resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old man following the discovery of plastics containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

In another report received from the Lautoka market area, a 22-year-old man was allegedly found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Another arrest made in the Lautoka area involved a 37-year-old man after he was allegedly found with white crystals believed to be methamphetamine, a weighing machine and smoking apparatus.
