Couple arrested for alleged theft

Quick action by the Labasa Criminal Investigation, led to the arrest of a couple alleged to be involved in a case of theft in Qelewaqa, Labasa yesterday.

The victim was traveling in a bus, and upon reaching the Qelewaqa junction, a man traveling in the same bus grabbed his bag containing money earned from his farming business and fled the scene.

A report was lodged, and a team formed, whereby they intercepted the suspect in Belego and found close to $2000 allegedly stolen from the victim.

Further search conducted inside the vehicle the suspect was traveling in, resulted in the discovery of more than $2,000 with his wife.

The two were taken into custody as investigations continue.
