Defence ordered to apply for date shift

Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo has ordered defence counsel Gul Fatima to write to the Resident-Magistrate Jeremaia Savou to vacate the hearing date against both former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and suspended Commissioner of Police Brigadier- General Sitiveni Qiliho.

This is because the State’s Appeal Hearing clashes with the Magistrates hearing against Bainimarama and Qiliho for abuse of office.

Fatima asked if the matter could be called at 11am so her clients can make an appearance in both the Magistrates and High Court.

Justice Temo refused this and said the appeal hearing will go on as scheduled for 02 May at 10:30 am.
